We’re happy to highlight our October Members of the Month, Mary Ann and Alex!
Mary Ann and her husband, Art, were members of the club as far back as 2018, before taking a break during the early days of COVID. Mary Ann and Alex rejoined in 2024, and Art has since come back as well, making it a true family affair. Mary Ann and Alex love swimming laps followed by relaxing in the hot tub. Although Alex has been water safe since age 6, it’s only in the last several years that he has fully embraced lap swimming, and Mary Ann says the smile on his face when they reach the pool area is what keeps her motivated.
Outside of the club, this pair stays busy. Alex enjoys trail biking and is a longtime member of the Miracle League of the North Bay baseball team, while Mary Ann serves on the board of United Cerebral Palsy of the North Bay and volunteers in other ways. Alex pitches in with volunteering, too. The family loves walking the beach at Bodega Bay, and if they’re not there, they might be riding the Skunk Train from Fort Bragg or Willits, something they’ve done at least 25 times! Alex is a big vintage reggae fan, and Mary Ann and Art are longtime Deadheads.
“We are so appreciative of the kindness of the Active pool community. Swimmers regularly move over a lane to give Alex the lanes he prefers or offer to share their lane with us. Many swimmers say hello to Alex when we arrive. The staff are also very welcoming every time we check in. Everyone at Active has been so supportive!”
Congratulations, Mary Ann and Alex, and thank you for being part of our Active family!
