Nicholas’ Story:

“Growing up my interests revolved around music and comic books and little else. Around the time my daughter was born that sedentary lifestyle started to bother me. I read about basic lift routines online and was trying them out at my office gym but then COVID hit and shifted me to working from home. Because I lost access to the weights and machines I switched to various running programs and I also got hooked on fitness podcasts.

When Active opened near me I decided to try lifting again to see if I could grow muscles for the first time in my life. I’m almost 40 so I don’t know how much physical changes are possible but I’ve come to enjoy working out for the experience itself.

I made a goal this year to learn more about fitness and the ways to incorporate a variety of experiences into my routine, like more yoga classes and learning how to swim. Overall when I think about fitness it comes down to what kind of quality of life I want as I’m getting older and I’ve decided that what I want is to feel healthy and be able to hike and walk for some distance for several more decades.”
