It’s no secret that staying hydrated is especially important during the summer months, given the high temperatures and increase in fluids lost from sweat. Not only do we lose fluids, but we also lose electrolytes through sweat. So, while water is extremely important and highly recommended for addressing hydration needs, we shouldn’t count out food sources with high water content.
Fruits and vegetables are made up of about 75-95% water, but also contain essential electrolytes such as potassium. Below is a list of fruits and veggies to focus on this summer for an extra boost in hydration and to replenish those lost electrolytes!
WATER-RICH FOODS:
- Cucumbers
- Watermelon
- Celery
- Iceberg & romaine lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Zucchini
- Strawberries

- Honeydew melon
- Nut milks
